About Galway Web Academy

We are a Galway-based academy focused on modern web design education for local enterprises and Ireland’s tourism industry. Our first year is dedicated to building a practical learning environment that supports real business needs and clear professional outcomes.

Mission and Local Focus

Galway is a city where small businesses drive the local economy. Our mission is to equip learners with the design and WordPress skills that help those businesses build clear, reliable online presence. We focus on tools, templates, and design patterns that work for real client needs rather than abstract exercises.

As a young academy, we stay close to the needs of Galway’s owners, startups, and tourism providers. We refine our curriculum based on local feedback, making sure our students learn how to produce work that is useful and sustainable.

Our Teaching Approach

Structured Skill Building

We start with fundamentals: layout structure, typography, and accessibility. This ensures every learner can build sites that are easy to read, quick to load, and usable across devices.

Real Briefs

Our projects mirror typical Galway client requests such as tourism landing pages, service-based sites, and local brand refreshes. Learners work within realistic constraints.

Practical WordPress

We prioritise WordPress workflows that make sense for small businesses, including user-friendly editing, image optimisation, and content planning.

Facilities and Learning Environment

Our studio space in Eyre Square is designed for focused learning with group tables, presentation screens, and collaborative planning areas. We combine short lectures with hands-on build sessions, ensuring that learners practice as they learn.

Students also have access to templates, guidance documents, and practical checklists tailored to Irish client expectations. This helps students maintain a structured workflow and deliver consistent results.

Our Commitment

We are a new academy with a clear commitment: to help learners develop the confidence to build and manage real websites for Irish businesses. We focus on quality instruction, realistic workflows, and a supportive community where learning is steady and practical.

We welcome enquiries from learners, small business owners, and organisations seeking collaborative training or tailored learning sessions.
